Wage hike for foreign domestic workers
Hong Kong SAR will impose a moderate wage increase for foreign domestic workers on or before June, as soon as it acquires statistical data needed to determine the amount of the increase, such as the gross domestic product, and consumer price index. The salary for foreign domestic workers this year is HK$3,480 a month, after wages increased by HK$50 and HK$80 from the past two years.
Call center training to begin in May
A call center training program for overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong SAR will officially begin on 4 May. The 20-hour course will be provided to a starter batch of 60 students every Sunday. The program was organized following a signed memorandum agreement between the Overseas Labor Office in the Philippines and the Vocational Training Center (VTC) in Hong Kong SAR. The VTC will also be in charge of assessing whether applicants can finish the course. Qualified applicants must be less than 40 years old and must have a valid OWWA membership and a high school diploma. They must also have three completed two-year contracts.
