Government cancels processing of marriage documents
Officials announced on 4 April that the government has suspended the processing of marriage documents to curtail possibilities of human trafficking. The decision came after suspicions and concerns were raised following a rise in the number of Cambodian women marrying South Korean men. It was not mentioned when the suspension will last. Until then, officials said that government agencies involved will have to strengthen procedures in processing foreign marriage documents.
