The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) urged some 10,000 undocumented overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Saudi Arabia to correct their status after the Kingdom announced new concessions on May 10.

Philippine recruitment agencies feared a drop in the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Malaysia after the Malaysian government required foreign applicants to electronically-upload their medical results as part of work requirements.

Some 10,000 Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia may seek to avail of recent concessions by the Kingdom's government to go home, a Saudi news site reported Sunday.

THE bilateral relations between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia were recently challenged when the Kingdom embarked on its “Saudization” policy, which prioritizes the hiring of Saudi nationals over foreign workers and targeted the deportation of some 200,000 undocumented foreign workers, 10 percent of whom are Filipinos.
